Position Overview | Our Community Planning and Housing Department has a temporary full-time opportunity for a Planning Assistant 2 to join their team for up to 2 years (renewable annually). This is technical and administrative planning work to support the Community Planning and Housing team. In this role you will work with databases and statistics and conduct analysis in a variety of areas including housing. You will assist in monitoring progress on key initiatives and be involved in new projects such as the Official Community Plan. In addition, you can expect to have exposure to the breadth of portfolios in Community Planning which encompass housing, social planning, heritage, employment lands, public engagement, child care, regional planning and more. The successful candidate will be an effective communicator, with the ability to perform various tasks under minimal supervision and be a team player with innovative approaches to problem solving. This is an excellent opportunity to use and grow your planning skills, while being supported by a working supervisor and department manager. Qualifications The successful candidate will have post-secondary education in a relevant field such as planning, geography, land economics or urban design. Work experience in these areas would be an asset. An equivalent combination of training and experience will also be considered. A valid BC Drivers Licence is required. Details Salary: The pay range for this unionized position is $36.08 to $42.45 per hour (2024 rates) based on a 35-hour work week.
